Update from the 11th May

Clarification from Governing bodies and how we proceed.

Hi all

Below is a copy of what we have been sent from the governing bodies. Please read on after for our progress going forward.

The UK Government has today provided clarification on outdoor recreation and rules on social distancing in England.

These will affect how golf can be played from Wednesday 13 May and, in particular, the configuration of groupings on a golf course.

Under new government rules released today (11 May), the following groupings will be permitted upon resumption of play:

Individuals playing golf on their own.
Two-balls comprising of individuals from different households
At the discretion of the golf club, members of the same household playing in two, three or four-balls.
Social distancing rules must be strictly adhered to at all times.

Government stipulates: “Government is updating the rules so that, as well as exercise, people can now also spend time outdoors subject to: not meeting up with any more than one person from outside your household; continued compliance with social distancing guidelines to remain two metres (6ft) away from people outside your household; good hand hygiene, particularly with respect to shared surfaces; and those responsible for public places being able to put appropriate measures in place to follow the new COVID-19 Secure guidance. People may exercise outside as many times each day as they wish.

“You can only exercise with up to one person from outside your household – this means you should not play team sports, except with members of your own household. People may drive to outdoor open spaces irrespective of distance, so long as they respect social distancing guidance while they are there, because this does not involve contact with people outside your household.”

Further clarification is being sought from government relating to retail and driving ranges as well as the carrying out of club fitting and coaching sessions.

Any updates will be communicated in due course.

As it states above you will be able to play with members of your household plus one other from another household.

As such we will proceed as follows

Tee times

Tomorrow morning I am afraid I will have to delete all the tee times that are booked in. We will then open the tee sheet from 13:00 for you all to book. This includes the weekend and going into next week. 5 and 7 day membership is still as normal so only 7 day will be able to book the weekend slots. Tees will be open from 08:00 until 18:00. The temporary gate at the entrance will be open from 07:30 until 20:00 however we will have the code in the shop for those going out late.
I am sorry for those that have already booked but we must make it is fair for all members to have the chance to play. Lorraine will be in the shop from 12:00 until 16:00 to take any bookings of those who can't get BRS to work.
We do have 450 members and i know that not all of you will be able to get the tee times you want initially but we will monitor and try and make sure that everyone is catered for in the next few days. Please do not book unless you fully intend to play as this prevents others from booking.
As I have previously stated 1 tee time per person please and as best you can please input the names of your playing partners.

I will allow members to book in a guest as they may want to bring members of their household but i will be monitoring this.

For those that have not yet paid your memberships we will have credit card machine and DD forms in the shop ready for you before you play. DD forms can also be found on the membership prices page of the website for you to fill in at home.

In terms of the course we will be adopting measures as before the lockdown with flags in the center of the green and should be left in at all times. it will be only yellow tees and red for the ladies. rakes will not be out as before so you can pick and place in bunkers.

Buggies will be available for those that have need for them and those from the same household can share. please do not get lifts over the bridges on them and remember the back is for clubs not for you to stand on!!!!

Range balls will be available from the shop however we will limit the numbers to 8 at any one time on the driving range so as to keep social distancing. The chipping green and putting green will be available also.

Please remember that we expect if you or any member of your family have any symptoms then we expect you to remain at home.

Play Safe, Stay Safe

Thank you all and I look forward to seeing you all from Wednesday onwards.

April / May Competitions

Due the current Coronavirus situation the competitions committee have decide to cancel all the competitions in April up until the new provisional date for the captains drive in on the 6th of June
We will review this mid-May for June, then mid-June for July etc
This includes medals, mid-week medals, Sunday stablefords & the champagne roll up.

We will hopefully be able to play the board comps at the end of the year possibly in place of the medals etc.

We will also delay the draw for all the summer knockouts until we know we can play safely in a social environment.

We will be guided by the government in this case.
All Tri series, Concorde, Ladies & mixed matches will not be played until at least the 1st of June but will be reviewed monthly.

The Hillman is already cancelled this year and Annodata delayed until June at the moment.

The priority for DG club & committee is keeping members safe so please keep an eye on the webpage & Tom’s e-mail updates.

Please also be conscious of the Rules laid down by the club i.e. no racks in bunkers, leave flags in etc etc.

Best regards and keep safe

DG committee

Captains Drive-in 2020

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak and government advice we have taken the decision to delay the Captains Drive-in by 2 months until the 6th of June. If the situation does not improve, we will delay it by a month at a time.

The situation is being constantly monitored by the Club captains for 2020.

The May / June medal has been cancelled.
We have moved the drive-in leaving all current players in the slots that you have entered you obviously can adjust as required via the Club V1 app.

We appreciate you understanding during these difficult times with our main priority not to put anybody at risk.

There is a Coronavirus page on the club website here and Tom is updating continually via e-mails

We hope you understand why we have had to do this

Coronavirus Update 19 March

During this time we obviously want to protect the members but also keep you playing golf and out in the fresh air.

For this reason as of today we are making a few small measures.

- The flags will be taken out of the holes so please check the board as to what the pin positions are

- the rakes have been taken in also so we are allowing pick and place in the sand

- The doors of the pro shop will be left open at all times and we are asking members to wait for no more than 3 people to be in the shop before entering.

- We are trying to promote contactless payment as much as possible including competitions

- buggies will be allowed but we are advising only one person per buggy ( 2 sets of clubs are still able to be carried)

- there have been guidelines for all golfers to carry their own hand wash

- Entering the bar area is at the members discretion and we have added hand sanitizer at both entrances.

We are mindful that the situation is changing at all times and we are looking at future competitions and how best to move forward.

We are all in this together and lets try and work as best we can to get through this

CORONA VIRUS UPDATE

Donnington Grove Country Club
CORONA VIRUS UPDATE - Please read

Members and friends of Donnington Grove
In view of the government’s announcement earlier regarding social distancing, I can confirm we are currently business as usual.
The course and public areas of the golf club will for the present time stay open and available for you to continue to play golf. In line with government advice we encourage you all to take any preventative measures you can. Hand sanitizer stations have been set up in prime positions around the club for your use, and we would encourage everybody to use these as often as possible.
As we enter a very busy time for the club, AGM, change over of captains, presentation night, and all that goes along with these events, a very responsible, robust and fluid attitude needs to be in place from the management team and us as members of DG. I am sure some events will change from the tradition, but as a club we feel we need to retain a degree of normality, within the guidelines of the government.
We will continue to follow government guidance and mandates, and keep you all informed of any changes we will be required to make to any diary events in the coming weeks. Please regularly check your communication platforms for updates.

DOs

Wash your hands with soap and water frequently and for at least 20 seconds per wash.
Always wash your hands when you get home or into work, before you eat and before and after golf.
Use an alcohol or ethanol based antibacterial hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
Putt with the flag in or use your gloved hand to touch the flag.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze.
Dispose of used tissues in the closest bin and wash your hands afterwards.
Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
Fist bump instead of shaking hands.

DONT’s

Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

We ask all of you to look after each other. We are in unprecedented times and we appreciate you cooperation.

Invitation Dinner 3rd April

This event has been cancelled by the 2020 captains

Hillman

BB&O

Dear All,

It is with great disappointment I am sending this email to advise you that following the Government announcement yesterday, we will be cancelling the Hillman Trophy competition for 2020 and consequently the Hillman Plate.

We have received the news from several Clubs that they have already taken the decision to close their clubhouses and provide reduced sessions. It would therefore be unfair to expect them to host visiting Hillman Teams.

We will of course provide refunds for the entry fees paid or a credit for the 2021 competition - we will be in touch with Club Managers regarding this.

I wish you all the very best in these difficult times and look forward to better golfing days ahead.

Kind regards,

Shelley
